Project Description

Nature reserve Ilperveld

Ilperveld is a unique peatland area near Amsterdam. It is a vast quiet, beautiful wetland area with hundreds of islands of quaking bog. A brackish peatland area, with numerous ditches, canals and reed beds.

Ilperveld is best viewed from a boat. Go on a boat excursion or rent a canoe, electric boat or a rowing boat. Explore Ilperpad behind the Visitor Centre on foot. Walk to the bird observatory or take the ferry to the research location of Omhoog met het Veen (Up with the Peat).

In the months from May to September, Landschap Noord-Holland offers unique nature boat trips through the Ilperveld with your bicycle on board.
