Project Description

IVN Twiske organises educational children’s activities for various ages. In principle, the activities take place on Sundays from February to November. The farmhouse living room at De Marsen petting farm is the starting point.

Twiskemolen Windmill

The miller at the Twiskemolen offers an educational programme for primary schools in the region. Schools visit the mill, the mill yard and the mill biotope. Groups do a 3-part programme; the first part of the visit is a look inside the mill where the miller talks about the operation, function and construction of the mill. The second part is a walk around the mill biotope, where the children are given assignments that make them aware of the natural and cultural aspects of the environment of the mill. The third part is an indoor activity in the mill shed, where the children take the mill quiz and take part in a technical (Lego) assignment to rebuild the Twiskemolen from Lego blocks.

Landschap Noord‐Holland

The nature of Noord-Holland is one big outdoor playground. Full of exciting stories and discoveries. A place where children can run off their excess energy, have fun and learn about the beautiful world in which they live. Research has shown that spending time outdoors helps  children in their development.

Our rangers and guides regularly organise activities for children. Would you rather spend a day with your children yourself? Download our detective app at home and discover a nature reserve together. Or rent an electric boat in the Ilperveld and sail together through the beautiful islands near Amsterdam. We offer schools the possibility to go into nature with the entire class in two nature reserves. An experience they will never forget!

Discover Laag Holland, the backyard of Amsterdam.
