Come boating and relax in the island kingdom of Ilperveld on the edge of Amsterdam. This quiet, beautiful wetland area with hundreds of islands of quaking bog is a brackish peatland area.

A real natural gem with many water and meadow birds. Cows, sheep and goats graze. Rent a canoe, electric boat or rowing boat yourself and sail through the many ditches to view this mysterious water world. From May to October: every Saturday and Sunday. Unique experience: Step ashore to walk across the quaking bog! Be sure to walk to the bird observatory or take the ferry to the research location of ‘Omhoog met het Veen’. Here you can escape the busy city life, breathe fresh air and get to know the Netherlands as a land of water… Just look how beautiful Noord-Holland is!
